S.I.B.O / GIT Breath Test (for Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth)

The test works by testing for the presence of hydrogen or methane in the breath at specific intervals after a person drinks a liquid containing a sugar solution, such as glucose or lactulose.

A rise of ≥ 20 ppm from baseline in hydrogen by 90 min should be considered a positive test to suggest the presence of SIBO. A peak methane level ≥ 10 ppm at any point is indicative of a methane-positive result
