Hyperactivity and ADHD in Kids

“I just can’t seem to get him to sit still! He runs around constantly and sometimes get’s angry and violent! He doesn’t do well at school, is lagging behind, and can’t relate to his peers, has a 2 minute attention span with crazy swings in behaviour….the only quiet time we get, is when he’s asleep!”

This is a typical description of a hyperactive or hyperkinetic child or ADHD, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Parents who have these kids are often labelled as ‘bad parents’ who are not providing their child with a warm, loving and caring environment. This is untrue and places unnecessary guilt upon the parents who are only trying to help their child.

Many kids suffering with hyperactivity or ADHD are very susceptible to the effects of various foods and more importantly chemicals.

Each hyperactive child needs to be considered and treated individually.

Start with the basics – their diet.

Eliminating all preservatives, colourings, flavourings, sugar and all chemical additives. (Basically all packaged foods and highly processed foods).

Labels on cans and packages should be scrutinised carefully.

Foods that contain salicylates (chemical compounds of salts or esters derived by salicylic acid), such as tomatoes, grapes, raisons, sultanas, oranges, strawberries, pineapple etc should be eliminated. As a general rule the blander tasting fruits such as pears, contain less salicylates than the stronger tasting ones such as pineapples.

Apart from the diet, children can be affected by environmental chemicals such as heavy metals which are neurotoxins.

Heavy metals such as those found in vaccines, such as aluminium, thimerosal (mercury), and cadmium along with other harmful ingredients such as ammonium sulphate, beta-propiolactone, genetically modified yeast, animal, bacterial and viral DNA, latex rubber, MSG, formaldehyde, micro-organisms, polysorbate 80, tri (n) butyl phosphate, gelatine, human and animal cells…just to name a few.

Dangers of Thimerosal (ethylmercury)

43 studies on thimerosal ( http://www.greenmedinfo.com/toxic-ingredient/thimerosal ) indicate at least 30 different adverse effects including: neurodevelopmental disorders, autism spectrum disorders, autism, tic disorders, vaccine-induced toxicity, learning  disorders, attention deficit disorder, mental retardation, speech disorders, mercurypoisoning, childhood chemical exposures, cognitive decline/dysfunction, emotional disorders, infantile spasms, seizures, sexual developmental dysfunction and abnormalities, oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, attention deficit disorder with hyperactivity, developmental disorder, ataxia, atopic diseases, impaired detoxification, borderline personality disorder, neurodegenerative diseases, excitotoxicity, amygdala damage/abnormalities, autoimmune diseases, neurotoxicity, DNA damage, immune disorders/low immunity.

Other irritants to their system may include plastic food wrap, chlorine in swimming pools, fluoride in toothpaste, glues, fabric softener, perfumed soaps etc.

In ADHD the emotional disturbance in children is commonly related to the liver’s inability to detoxify these chemical additives in foods and drugs like antibiotics or those injected into the child.

These substances act as a nerve irritant and because children’t immune systems may still be under-developed under the age of 5, their liver and kidney’s struggle to detox these substances.

What Can Help?

  • EE System, or Energy Enhancement System (EES)
  • Exercise in nature, barefooted on the grass
  • Massage
  • Meditation
  • are different ways you can help your child relax and improve circulation to the brain and body whilst balancing out left and right brain hemispheres.

You can visit Elevata’s Private EE System Lounge here on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.

Red clover is a great herb acting as an alterative as well as a nerve relaxant.
Reducing stress (as their body will be in a constant state of alert) with the aid of Oats and Skullcap, Vitamin C and B complex.
Bitter tonics may also be required or an anti parasitic herbal tincture in case there is infection attacking the nerves.
